Are You Serious About Jive Dancing? Get Proper Shoes First!

Jive Dance lessons ANN ARBOR and various dancing styles need a lot of feet movements and swings. In order to get right moves at right time, it is important to wear proper dancing shoes. Whether you are learning tap, swing, ballet or jazz, a major difference could be noticed with proper dancing shoes. Also, dancing shoes for jive should have correct fit, not too tight and nor too loose. Otherwise, you may have to compromise in sliding gracefully and smoothly on the dance floor. As a serious ballroom dancer, you should know that shoes with no appropriate sole or loose shoes won’t let you enjoy all jive movements.

If you are going to buy dancing shoes for swing or jive, make sure they have flexible and sleek bottom. Unless you feel confident and completely secure in carrying out sleek turns, you will easily fall off on the floor.

Shoe Styling Preference for Men and the Ladies
For the beginners and intermediates, Ballroom and Latin are the two styles of shoes available. For the ladies – you should buy Latin style of shoes if it is your first time.

For Men – It is good to go for ballroom ones for the first time. Ballroom shoes for men have flatter heel as compared to Latin shoes for men, which is what we say – Cuban heel. Learning on flatten heel is quite easier for men to walk and dance in essence of low high heel. Though Cuban heel is suitable for Latin-styled shoes, but Ballroom can be quite hard to dance. When it comes to style, they have little variations but they are quite simple as compared to black-laced Oxfords.

For Women – Ballroom Shoes are useful just for ballroom as they lack Latin shoes’ versatility. Hence, Latin shoes are best choice for the ladies as their heels push your body weight onto toes. Also, they are open on all sides. In addition, they are also available in different styles – closed-toe, sandals, t-bar strap, and spider-toe. You can choose one of these depending upon your preferences. When it comes to standard heel heights, Latin shoes come in 2”, 2.5” and 3”. If you are taller and don’t like high heels, you may wear 2” shoes. While 2.5” is perfect choice for the beginners, 3” is preferred only to the experts.

When it comes to the material used in dance shoes, men’s dancing shoes can be made of patent or imitation leather. And leather and satin are used to manufacture women’s dancing shoes. If you are buying dancing shoes for Jive Dance classes ANN ARBOR, remember that leather shoes slightly stretch when you wear regularly.
